Some say they don’t believe in “Dispensational Theology”. What they mean exactly I'm not sure; I am just fool enough to believe it as it is written. I’ve never been to “Seminary” or “Bible College” but it would seem that God has an order for His will to be accomplished. I make no claim to know and interpret all of Revelation, for now we see through a glass darkly:
1 Corinthians 13:
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
Then (in the end) face to face, and we will know as we are known. That is to say fully and completely.
Dispensation-the divine ordering of the affairs of the world.
Let’s look at the words of Jesus concerning the time of the end.
Matt 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
Jesus then talked of deceptions, false Christs, wars, famines, pestilences, etc; which he referred to as the “beginning” of sorrows. Now if something has a beginning, it implies order; does it not?
Matthew 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
“For then…” is another point of order signifying a time. This time it is the occurrence of “great tribulation”.
Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
In verse 29, “immediately after” and in verse 30 “and then” are again time reference points. From here we can go to Revelations.
Revelations 6:
12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
13And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
14And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
15And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
This passage also corresponds to:
Revelations 14:
14And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.
15And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
16And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.
Paul referred to this time in Thessalonians.
1 Thessalonians 4:
16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
In Revelations the First resurrection is spoken of.
Revelation 20:
4And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
Some say that Christ is already reigning; I would say they are correct spiritually, in the heart of the believer, for Jesus said:
Luke 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
And:
John 14:
22Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
23Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
But physically He will also return to earth one day and set up a literal reign upon the earth, where He will rule with a “rod of iron”. Some dispute this, saying He already rules with the rod of iron. If that is so, then why does the scripture say:
Hebrews 10:
12But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
13From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
If He is expecting (waiting) AFTER His sacrifice, then is He reigning over His enemies yet? I say no, not yet, but He will. Also, during this time Satan will be bound:
Revelation 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
“…Until the thousand years should be fulfilled” Satan will be bound. I ask, Is he bound now? If Christ is already in the midst of this reign with the rod of iron, then according to this scripture Satan must be bound at this present time. Look around you at the sin and evil in the world. Is Satan, the deceiver, bound or still loosed?
After this thousand year reign, those who are gathered together in deception when Satan is loosed for a little season, are destroyed when fire comes from God out of Heaven. Satan is then cast into the lake of fire, the rest of dead are delivered up, the judgment is set, and punishment is meted. (Revelation 20).
